Interview: Belinda from At Weddings by the Bay

Let's learn a little bit about your business and services you offer, can you give us a brief overview?
We offer a wedding decorating service that combines extremely high quality products, an unrivalled level of personal service, inspirational designs and value for money. Servicing Brisbane, the Bayside & the Gold Coast, our hire collection features everything you need to create the perfect wedding, no matter what your budget.


How did you get involved in the wedding industry?
Having passionately managed Event teams in Sydney, London and Brisbane, my new party shop business on Brisbane's Bayside was a perfect platform for me to expand into Wedding Decoration and incorporate my proven creative and event styling skills.


Do you have any kind of underlying philosophy, that guides the way you approach weddings?
At Weddings by the Bay our friendly stylists strive to create breath-taking designs that will not only ’WOW’ guests but are sure to make the day memorable and magical for all involved!


Do you have a unique selling point, or something that makes your business extra special?
At Weddings by the Bay we pride ourselves on being individually creative. Keeping up with the current decorating trends from around the world and enhancing our own designs to suit the locations and venues that we work with on a regular basis.


In your opinion, what is it about your service that makes a wedding day extra special?
We are proven and experienced decorators.  We take away the stress and give you the confidence to know that we will create a look that will certainly lead to "oohs, ahhs and other superlatives" amongst your guests on your special day!


We particularly noticed how nice the photos looked on your profile, is there an interesting story behind any of them?
Everyone (suppliers, brides-to-be, venues, customers etc.) are all blown away by our pink candy buffet!  Our bride was prepared to go to town with it and as you can well imagine, the buffet was a huge hit with all of her guests.  It's proof to us that '5 or 6 jar' candy bars just don't cut it - if you're going to have one - make it special.


If you could give one piece of advice to a bride (or groom) on their special day, what would it be?
Even if you're a hater of' 'lists' - use them!  The more things you start to check off in your planning stages, the more stress you take off your shoulders and the "big picture" will soon become easy and manageable.  A week out, pass any outstanding items on your lists onto friends and family to be responsible for.  Relax and enjoy the lead-up to your big day - it will be magical - even if your lipstick clashes with the aisle runner - lol!
