The hens party. Those 3 words mean many things to many people and while I have been to my fair share of hen’s nights and enjoyed seeing others squirm when a male stripper emerges, it really wasn’t what I wanted to do on my hens night.
But it’s not all about me on the night so why should I rob my fellow party-goers the opportunity to ogle some man-candy just because I’m feeling prudish? There must be some kind of middle ground between a naked man impersonating a helicopter, and a completely dull night sitting around reading books. Good news, there is!
I discovered Art4Play and as the clever branding suggests it’s a cross between artistic self-expression, and attractive men with little to no clothing.
For any of you who’ve taken life-drawing classes you’ll be familiar with a nude model adopting a pose for 15 minutes or so while you try to sketch them on an art board or easel. Typically however the nude model is not someone who you would want to see naked and so focusing on your sketching technique is far easier. This is not the case with Art4Play.
Their website boasts an impressive array of men who are willing to bare all in the name of plucky hens and their entourage developing their creative side, while easing the pre-class nerves with a glass of bubbles and a soothing shoulder massage. The easels are still present and serve not only to provide a surface to draw on, but a place for giggly girls to hide behind, and sneak a peek here and there (for artistic purposes of course).
Cascie Wills is the founder and CEO of the unique activity and describes it on her website as “the perfect amount of laughter, bubbly and nudity, without being grotesque or offensive…".
It’s worth noting that her job title as CEO actually stands for (Chief Entertainment Officer) and it’s this light hearted approach which makes me feel much more excited about the hens celebration.
Cascie herself is lovely to deal with and very accommodating which helps to ease the nerves even further. I’m definitely looking forward to bringing out my inner artist and seeing the look of my mum and sister’s face.
