We all know that the makeup you wear on your wedding day can bring your photographs to life and create special memories to last a lifetime. It can also turn your memories into a disaster if you get it wrong.
To help you out we have tracked down Sydney’s Bridal Makeup trends for 2015 so those memories remain extra special.
This year many brides are embracing the more casual look for their wedding day and making the most of their natural features. The idea is to achieve a look which presents the best possible version of themselves instead of heavy makeup and hairstyles they never wear. Although the look is casual, attention to every detail is still of utmost importance.
Trends for 2015 include:
It is no good having the perfect makeup artist creating that special look if you don’t have your skin looking fantastic first. In the months leading up to your wedding, have your skin assessed by a professional and look after any problem areas early. Have a trial with your makeup artist to ascertain whether you have any adverse reaction to their products. Clean and hydrate your skin regularly and your makeup will look picture perfect.
Gone are the days of heavy contouring with dark shades of bronzer to hollow out cheekbones. Instead the new obsession is colourless contouring which uses highlighter to illuminate certain areas of your face. The correct use of contouring can have a dramatic effect on the look of your face in photographs. Use highlighter on the top of your cheekbones and down the centre of your nose to bring them forward and create the illusion of depth. You can also dab on the bow of your lips to make them look fuller.
Heavy, dark mascara is back thanks to changing beauty trends and for this you need a good black mascara which is coated on the lashes repeatedly until they are thick and clumpy. The trend comes from Chanel’s latest fashion shows and is becoming popular among makeup artists. If you are fair, opt for brown but either way use the best products to prevent flaking.
The Cat Eye
A popular trend has been the Cat Eye which is transitioning into a favourite look for brides. Makeup artists are creating subtle versions of this winged look which has previously been considered too dramatic for brides. By using a thinner, less dramatic line or bold lines with delicate flicks the winged look can dramatically enhance the eyes. If black eyeliner is too bold blend the lines with matte eyeshadow to soften.
Brown lips are in and this means all shades of brown from brick to cocoa. Although the traditional nude and rose coloured lips are still popular, Sydney brides are also opting for a bold red lip to match their red rose bouquets.
There are really no rules when it comes to everyday makeup and wedding makeup is following suit. Follow the seasons and your personality to find the right look for your day. If that’s sparkles or the classic, bold cat eye then go for it and enjoy your day.
Deciding on a makeup artist is an important decision so ensure they are professional and experienced in weddings, and happy with your ideas for your look. Have a makeup trial, a glass of bubbly and enjoy!
